Volvo Group Engineer Geometrical Architect - CVDE in Bangalore, India
Group Truck Technologies is responsible for designing and developing trucks for all truck brands in Volvo group.
As a part of Vehicle Engineering unit within Volvo Group Truck Technologies, CVDE department is responsible for the chassis component designs for trucks.
Within CVDE we perform Geometric tolerance assurance activities for our interfaces
As Engineer Geometrical architect you will be performing Geometrical Tolerance Assurance activities to ensure the geometrical quality of the design by
Establishing concepts and integrate geometry robustness in the product (Robust Tolerancing at part, subassembly and assembly level) and process.
Preparing verification and geometrical adjustments for industrialization and production.
Statistical follow up for dimensional convergence during development and stability during production
Many of the tasks that this job performs is connected to strategies, technology, manufacturing development and product /project planning and has more engagement over time than just project time
Your responsibilities :
Drivethe complete Geometrical Tolerance Assurance process in the impacted chassis areas
Overall planning of project deliveries including project content reviews
Work on the assigned areas by performing 3D tolerance studies & optimizing the tolerances to meet the functional and assembly demands considering technology developments, supplier capability & Project requirements
Lead and develop the lessons learnt log for each project.
Develop & update the necessary templates, documents and educational materials needed to work & enhance department competence in the area
To achieve your mission:
You shall have a close interactions with quality requirement engineer, design team , Assembly & operations, verification leader, project manager and suppliers
You visit suppliers and Volvo assembly locations to validate the solutions.
You are an agile person who takes accountability
Sound knowledge & application experience of GD&T
Awareness of manufacturing technologies, processes and achievable tolerances
Knowledge about 2D and 3D tolerance stack up & experience in stack up calculations.
Knowledge of design and manufacturing requirements & constraints on typical plastic, sheet metal ,tubular, casting & forging components
Knowledge of inspections fixtures and methods.
Exposure to statistical analysis of the data
Clear and crisp in communication
Good technical leadership, planning and monitoring skills.
Should be able to drive the team members & cross functional teams.
Knowledge of RDNT & CETOL tool is an advantage
University degree- Bachelor of Engineering/Technology or Equivalent
This position comes under reporting structure of Group Manager Project support within CVDE BLR department.
