Microsoft Corporation Category Management Lead in Beijing, China

  • Purpose:

  • Direct accountability for driving consistent practices of category management across a multi-channel environment within GCR

  • Provide direction and guidance related to the product purchasing process and product lifecycle management in the channel

  • Responsible for driving a unified planning approach across the consumer channels to maximize our revenue and market share goals

  • Responsible for driving coordinated co-marketing across all consumer channels

  • Closely work with GSMO, MS Store and WW CDS/BG on driving share gain for Surface Key Metrics:

  • Consumer Surface Sell-In Revenue and GM

  • Consumer Surface Sell-Thru Units and Revenue

  • Consumer Surface Accessory Attach

  • Consumer Premium Mix

  • Consumer Surface Market Share

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own China Surface and GCR PCA end to end business performance and metrics

  • China Surface ROB functions, including Corp review, Governance and Promo council

  • Community engagement & communication among CDS, GSMO, MS Stores

  • Mange and drive growth initiatives-SMB @ Retail, Project Handshakes and Yourworkplace

  • Actively work with CARE to land new programs such as All Access and MS Complete

  • All Category Mgmt functions for GCR PCA business, including demand planning, business insights and new product launch

  • Develop future PCA GTM strategy

  • Own CRISP process (SMM/SPR) for GCR

  • Closely work with Finance team on Surface P&L all up analysis.

  • Develop strong product and category story for our retailers, clear processes and ownership of all the steps involved in the launch preparations, and end-to-end launch plans at a market level, combined with the right level of product supply for Day 1 and beyond.

  • Understand and develop plan for Voice of the Customer by leveraging CMO, Sales team and Channel Marketing workstreams.

Qualifications

Required Competencies:

  • Cross Group Collaboration: Staying connected across a variety of teams is critical: Surface Consumer & Commercial Marketing, Surface Business Planning, CDS Field Teams, Channel Marketing, Supply Chain and our own Category Sales Team is essential to the success

  • Influence & Impact: Supporting Sales and Marketing teams through funding, process improvements, offer alignment, and advocacy for strategic innovations and the capability to influence our peers across the BG and CDS organizations

  • Deep Business Insight: Be able to understand and analyze the business data sets to influence the strategy and execution of our business. These include key business metrics such as revenue, gross margin, and share, as well as market trends and consumer insights

  • Confidence and Communications: Ability to gain trust with teams, deliver Category strategy and measure outcome. Strong written and oral communications skills that can be leveraged across the board, at the highest level, in presentations to executives, but also in landing new strategies with teams.

  • Executive Presence: Have the presence and know-how required for positive and engaging meetings with retailer partner executives to land our vision, and strategy, while also delving for input and feedback from the partners to help strengthen our relationship and to further grow their Surface business.

  • Strategy Building: Critical to be able to leverage the market trends, customer insights blended with the Surface business objectives and past learnings to help evolve the Surface retail go-to-market strategy across seasons, products, skus and markets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or equivalent 4-year degree and 10-15 years retail category experience. CPG experience & MBA preferred.

  • People management experience (>10)

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills required, including ability to analyze multiple sources of data and recommend actions based on analysis

  • Proven track record of managing multiple channels with multi-million revenue responsibility and business acumen

  • Proven decision making and analytical experience in reviewing sales trends, product obsolescence, market trends using syndicated data sources (NPD, GFK, Nielsen, other) and operational trade-offs to drive accurate demand forecasts toIncrease sell-thru and market-share results

  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely - both orally and in written form and to effectively influence others in multiple groups and collaborate to achieve specific objectives

  • Analytical ability to understand complex data with many variables and draw conclusions and solve problems

  • Project management and organization sills required, including ability to manage multiple competing priorities across different groups in the organization
