Philips System Designer – Image-guided therapy in Best, Netherlands

Every second at IGT Systems, we help a customer to get a patient home faster and healthier through our superior image guided therapy systems and clinical expertise. The Interventional Applications team plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of clinical solutions for our customers. Examples of such solutions are amongst others the “OncoSuite”, a complete interventional oncology portfolio that assists interventional radiologists during the treatment of liver oncology. Another example would be “StentBoost”, an application that automatically enhances cardiovascular stents in real time to make them better visible for cardiologists.

You are responsible for

In this position, you will be working with various development teams, clinical experts and the LCM (Life Cycle) Manager. You are responsible for improving our software medical devices by keeping them up to date with various international regulations and by designing improvements based on customer feedback throughout the life cycle of our software medical devices. The development of the solution will be based on field data including customer feedback, regulatory and technology roadmaps, product maintenance activities and advanced field support.

Your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Analyzing pro-actively data quality and information from the installed base, manufacturing, suppliers and customers (including informal inputs from e.g. service, clinical science and application). Based on this analysis, you will be identifying business opportunities and executing these to assure the quality, usage and adaption of delivered and installed products;

  • Maintaining design requirements and risk management of a medical software device;

  • Contributing to post-market surveillance activities and reporting;

  • Visiting clinical end-users to understand customer needs;

  • Prioritizing product enhancement together with clinical experts and co-define features for new clinical applications based on customer feedback.

You are part of

You will be part of the Application Design and Test department in the Interventional Applications Cluster. This cluster builds and maintains about 20 advanced interventional applications used in conjunction with our interventional X-ray system in hospitals. These are typical 2D and 3D navigational applications used during minimally invasive procedures and running on Windows based PC platforms. You will be based out of Best, The Netherlands.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor or master degree in computer science or related field;

  • At least 5 years of industry experience in PC/Windows oriented software development;

  • A proven track record in the medical industry – combined with a strong understanding of the clinical context and international standards Philips is operating with (e.g. FDA regulatory, IEC 62304, IEC60601, ISO13485, ISO14971);

  • Understanding of the clinical context and various medical devices;

  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills to work with Philips (Senior) management and partner peers.
