The Boeing Company Financial Operations Material Analyst in Bristol, United Kingdom

The Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) Information, Training & Government Services team is looking for a Material Financial Operations Analyst to join the UK team based out of Bristol. Boeing’s UK Information, Training & Government division works closely with our customers to provide ongoing support and services to multiple public sector organisations for the UK government. This role will have the opportunity to work within a team which spans both current in-work and new contracts within a fun and challenging business growth environment with offices in multiple sites across the UK.

The individual will have the opportunity to work on cross functional teams for both daily work as well as special projects, interacting and collaborating with other functions such as Scheduling, Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis. They will also start developing relationships and act as the direct business partner to Supply Chain Management across the business in support of Financial Operations.

There will be a focus on skill development and career progression throughout the different areas of the finance function and the individual will need to demonstrate enthusiasm, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a pro-active, fast paced, dynamic environment. Working closely with Finance Project Accountants, Finance leadership, designated Project Managers and Supply Chain Managers as part of the cross-functional Project team we require a Material Financial Operations Analyst to learn and take responsibility for the following:

• Working with multiple teams to support and maintain proposal and execution material budgets and track variance to material budget.

• Performing programme and supply chain level analysis of cost and schedule variances with root cause analysis and problem solving or risk/opportunity identification.

• Communicating material cost trends and risk analysis with key stakeholders.

• Accountable for the development of material forecasts and/or Estimates at Completion (EACs).

• Development of Supply Chain EAC margin improvement plans.

• Maintaining Earned Value Management (EVM) practices where applicable.

• Extracting data and compiling performance reports while assisting with preparing variance analyses.

• Reconciling data from multiple sources and performing general support of financial statements, including month end processes.

• Full cycle project accounting support for assigned projects depending on their stage in the life cycle (which could include proposal development, implementation & execution through to contract closure).

• Supporting functional Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI) across the business and for specific suppliers.

• Learning and growing in other functional areas such as Labour/ Program Financial Operations, Financial Planning Accounting ect.

• Use of Complex global enterprise systems for material cost management and reporting.

• Understanding of UK Government Commercial Mechanisms.

• Understanding of intercompany commercial and financial Mechanisms.

Skills & Experience

• Background in Business, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Project Accounting, Accounting, or Project Coordination/Management preferred.

• Experience with material cost analysis and reporting is preferred.

• Experience of Business Partnering with the Program, Supply Chain and other functions.

• Advanced data management and strong Excel skills are essential.

• Previous experience with Complex global enterprise systems.

• Understanding of UK Government Commercial Mechanisms.

• Strong understanding of market affordability and techniques to improve and maximize affordability.

• Previous experience of base lining and transitioning programs from acquire to execute.
