Microsoft’s Cloud Infrastructure and Operations (MCIO) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As an MCIO Data Center Technician, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform.
Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 data centers and 1 million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

As a successful Senior Data Center Technician, your performance objectives include:
Demonstrating a strong desire and capability to learn, grow, and develop new skills
Empowering a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of data center activities
Establishing and enhance strong working relationships with various internal teams and external suppliers
Understanding overall ticket management process
Understanding and providing remote support guidance around power cycles, swapping out failed components, handling storage media, and troubleshooting
Providing remote and smart hands support on performing cable installations, testing, and troubleshooting using standard data center processes hardware installations – rack / stack
May be asked to perform tactical management tasks such as prioritizing ticketing queues, working to resolve escalations, and clearing blocking issues to enable continued delivery of data center support activities.
If required, assisting OMC and onsite Data Center Deployment teams with the deployment of data center infrastructure as needed to address high volume work activity
If required, assisting OMC and onsite Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Teams with shipping/receiving and inventory management to address high volume work activity

High School Diploma or equivalent
At least two years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) that may include weekends and/or holidays
Previous experience working in a data center environment
University or college degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
Applicable certifications: CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications
Working knowledge of physical IT infrastructures (e.g. Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.)
Basic working knowledge of CE infrastructures (e.g. UPS, Generator, AHU, etc.)
Experience with racking infrastructure and cabling systems
Experience working with data center-hosting vendors globally
Background Check Requirements:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
