Business Intelligence Analyst
Education & Information Technology
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Systems, the Business Intelligence Analyst provides support to the College's business intelligence and analytics initiatives, operations and projects. This position collaborates closely with college stakeholders and colleagues in Education and Information Technology to design and implement solutions for acquisition, cleansing and presentation of data for analysis, considering strategic, operational and technical requirements.
Maintains and develops operational reports and queries in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
Investigates business intelligence requirements, problems, and opportunities, seeking effective solutions through improvements in data warehousing, analysis, and reporting.
Provides design support and development of business intelligence solutions, including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery.
Works with stakeholders to discover, analyze and evaluate business intelligence needs in order to design appropriate solutions.
Designs and develops data extraction and cleansing routines, data warehouses, and reporting components including queries, views, OLAP cubes, reports and dashboards.
Applies secure development improvement practices; ensures that business intelligence services and related information are confidential, reliable and available.
Provides subject matter expertise on core business intelligence services and technology.
Explores college data to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.
Schedules and monitors implementation of new services and changes to existing business intelligence services, and ensures effective communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
University degree in related discipline is required, preferably in Computing Science.
Equivalencies may be considered.
3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience with business intelligence and data warehouse technologies.
Ability to solve complex problems and to work independently through ambiguity.
Demonstrated ability to confirm/understand business needs and translate those needs into operational support and reporting tasks.
Preference to candidates with experience in educational or public sector settings
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 2 years of experience with the design, development and maintenance of enterprise level data warehousing and ETL scripts on SQL Server.
Minimum 2 years of experience with the Microsoft BI stack.
Minimum 2 years of experience with PeopleSoft Query and Report Development (preferably Campus Solutions but any PeopleSoft application acceptable).
Demonstrated ability to present data in queries, dashboards and reports in a way that is easy to understand.
Demonstrated ability to articulate and translate technical language for non-technical customers both orally and in writing.
Experience in process mapping and workload measurement.
Experience in leadership an asset.
SALARY: $75,044 - $93,777 per annum. Commensurate with education and experience.
NOTE: This position also includes immediate participation in our comprehensive pension and benefits plan.
