Primary Focus:

  • Supports the provision of on-going operational support for Enbridge’s custody transfer flow computer infrastructure and applications throughout all supported entities.

  • Supports the provision of on-going operational support for Enbridge’s ultrasonic flow meters throughout all supported entities.

  • Participates on the MTS after hours on call program to ensure timely and effective after hours support for critical applications related to Enbridge’s flow computer infrastructure.

  • Provides project support to LP and MP projects which include flow computer infrastructure and applications scope.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the continued operation of the department’s measurement infrastructure and applications across the supported Enbridge systems including custody transfer flow computers and leak detection ultrasonic flow meters.

  • Participates on the MTS groups 24/7 on call support rotation with this position providing technologist level support as required.

  • Provides technical troubleshooting of systems when an operational issue occurs, at times working together with site operations, CCO, SCADA, and PCSLD.

  • Supports the annual development and updating of MTS standards and specifications.

  • Supports investigations and testing of new measurement infrastructure and applications to evaluate suitability for Enbridge.

  • Supports the development and deployment of training materials and training requirements for field staff regarding the operation and maintenance of the measurement infrastructure and applications.

  • Participates in the testing of the new measurement infrastructure, including factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and testing with peripheral systems like SCADA, HMI, and PLCs.

  • Supports the Measurement Services and Loss Management (MSLM) group providing technical input on new projects requiring electronic measurement systems. May act as reviewer of P&IDs, bid packages, material requisitions and associated drawings from vendor or consultant.

  • Supports the MTS SOx and D17 compliance activities.

  • Provides in class room and remote training to Operations staff as required.

  • Maintains familiarity of relevant industry standards related to flow computers and custody transfer measurement.

  • Maintains a good understanding of the various Enbridge entity measurement infrastructure systems and applications.

  • Understands the basic custody transfer measurement systems at Enbridge.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of industry related experience or an equivalent mix of formal education and experience such as:

  • An Electrical or Computer Engineer in Trailing (MIT) with a minimum 2 years’ experience OR a Certified Instrumentation/Electrical Technologist with a minimum of 6 years’ experience with membership in their professional association. A Bachelor of Computer Science graduate with a minimum of 6 years’ experience.

  • Experience with software programming with C/C++ and/or IEC 61131 programming languages

  • Proficient with any Windows OS, MS Excel and MS Word.

  • Available to be on a 24/7 on-call rotation.

  • Ability to assess a situation quickly and make appropriate decisions to resolve flow computer issues.

  • Good and clear communication skills to relate with various groups in the company.

  • Easily work in a group with highly technical minded individuals demonstrating effective team work.

  • Exposure to liquid pipeline terminal operations, liquid measurement and any type of flow computer technology is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of API and MPMS industry measurement standards.

  • Must carry a valid driver’s license and passport and be available for cross-border travel
