Executive Director, Marketing – HIV Treatment

The successful Executive Director, HIV Treatment Marketing candidate will be a key contributor responsible for strategy and execution in support of Gilead’s $11B HIV treatment franchise. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, experienced individual with a strong track record of commercial success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. He/she must have the proven ability to provide strategic brand/portfolio management, team leadership, vision and direction within a fast moving, challenging and dynamic commercial environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Managing and leading a team of marketing professionals

  • Overseeing the development and implementation of tactical and strategic marketing plans across the HIV treatment portfolio

  • Achieving brand/portfolio revenue targets

  • Setting the long-term vision for US HIV Treatment Marketing Portfolio

  • Collaborating with sales leaders to ensure coordinated approach

  • Leading cross functionally with HIV Franchise, HIV Prevention Legal, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory and Public Affairs leadership

  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with thought leaders, key customers and professional organizations

  • Working in close conjunction with NA Marketing operations to establish appropriate procedures, systems, metrics and infrastructures

  • Developing, coaching and managing key functional staff

  • Managing risk and P&L

  • Representing US HIV Treatment Marketing position on Promotional Review Committee Required qualifications include:

  • 15+ years pharmaceutical industry experience including expertise in marketing strategy and tactics and commercial policies and practices

  • Knowledge and experience in HIV preferred

  • Proven record of leading product launch and brand/portfolio growth

  • Experience with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements(OPDP) and impact on development of marketing materials

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines

  • Strategic capabilities with ability to conceive, develop and implement multidimensional marketing and business plans

  • Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities

  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting before executive staff

  • Track record of successful budget management with an understanding of revenue forecasting and expense budget planning and tracking

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports

  • Sales/market research experience is preferable, though not required

  • BA/BS degree required with an MBA or advanced scientific degree desired
