Dell Software Engineer 2 (Enterprise Business Intelligence - PINES) in George Town, Malaysia


The EBI Reliability Engineering team focuses on the performance and stability of the data platform that underpins Dell’s analytics and business intelligence functions. The platform we run processes data throughout its entire lifecycle from source to reporting applications and data stores. The EBI Software Engineer in particular:

  • Responds to production incidents and, in critical situations, participates in triage/root cause analysis on MIM bridges to provide solutions to high severity issues

  • Develops code that automates repetitive tasks performed by the application support team

  • Develops alerting and monitoring mechanisms that proactively notify the team of potential issues and bottlenecks which could potentially impact availability of critical reports

  • Develops solutions to back-end data anomalies and reconciliations by working closely with data stewards, development teams and business stakeholders

  • Provides regular inputs to development teams to enable continuous improvements in the architectural design of future-state data acquisition pipelines


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent

  • 2+ years in a software development or support role

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Domain knowledge in Marketing/Supply Chain/Finance

  • Passion for use of AI/ML to help customers solve business problems

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of data warehousing and big data concepts

  • Working knowledge of ETL tools including Informatica and Control-M

  • Understanding of RDBMS such as Oracle, Teradata, PostgreSQL, Greenplum

  • Experience with stream data processing tools such as Kafka or StreamSets

  • Hands-on experience with shell scripting on UNIX or Linux
