Purpose of the job

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of business development reps to develop the McCain business through professional engagement with end users.

Requirements

•Relevant 3 year qualification

•Five years proven sales experience in an FMCG environment

•Minimum two years management experience managing a sales team

•Relevant computer literacy-MS Office, SAP

Key Performance Areas:

1. Drive regional sales in volume and value.

•Forecast annual, quarterly and monthly revenue streams

•Performs sales activities with regional distributors and negotiates sales price ,discounts and negotiate deals as agreed with the national distributor manager

•Execute and implement sales plans (from National Sales Distributor Manager and Category)

•Analyse reports and information and develop specific plans to ensure revenue growth on all company’s products

•Manage and control regional volume and GP through a process of daily tracking

•Direct and coordinate activities of sales team in order to achieve agreed annual KPI’s and quarterly focus activities

•Manage and monitor discount levels and differentiate into customer levels (Gold, Silver and Bronze)

•Prepare presentations and sales proposals

2. Manage customer relationships with distributors and end users

Distributors

•Execute and implement strategic direction and focus areas for distributors as driven by the National Distributor Manager

•Confer with distributors by telephone or in person to provide information about products, manage customer debtors list, any product / customer complaints that may arise

•Implement and manage focus weeks with distributors

•Analyse reports and information and develop specific plans to ensure revenue growth on all company’s products

•Manage and control regional volume and GP through a process of daily tracking

•Implement cook ups

•Host trade shows

End Users

•Manage staff training with end users

•Execute and implement strategic direction and focus areas for end users as driven by the National End User manager

•Confer with end users by telephone or in person to provide information about products, any product / customer complaints that may arise

•Implement and manage focus weeks with end users

3. Effective team and self-management

•Development and performance management of business development reps, through daily contact and regular team meetings

•Develop and ensure timely execution of personal development plans

•Conduct monthly one to ones

•Coach team through supervised visits with customers

•Manage own development( skills and knowledge)

4. Manage general administration

•Prepare paperwork (deal management paperwork) accurately and timeously to ensure customer deals are loaded correctly into McCain systems (SAP/EDW)

•Feedback on competitive activity and market intelligence, follow-up, and adherence to objectives (on a monthly / quarterly basis)

•Manage regional cost centres on controllable expenses

5. Assist with Innovation and New Product Implementation

•Co-ordinate training for business development representatives on new products
