Role Description

The ASEAN Commercial Manager is responsible for leading strategic analyses and insight generation for the ASEAN Commercial Operations team to support identification of business opportunities for the ASEAN business. This role will provide analytical, technical and insight generation support to the ASEAN Commercial Operations team, with particular focus in supporting the Trade & Pricing Strategy Lead and Field Force Effectiveness Lead. The ASEAN Commercial Manager will identify and analyze complex data sources and translate such analyses into tangible strategic recommendations to capitalize on new business opportunities. This role will also support the ASEAN Commercial Operations team in implementing and tracking KPIs across channels to monitor the team's progress towards go to market leadership. This role reports to the Upjohn ASEAN Commercial Operations Lead.

Responsibilities:

The ASEAN Commercial Manager will collaborate across the ASEAN team to ensure accomplishment of the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategic analyses for the ASEAN Commercial Operations team to enable identification of new business opportunities and improve the portfolio's P&L including but not limited to:

  • Pricing & Trade Channel Optimization e.g., promotional pricing optimization, price elasticity insights, resource optimization across channels, and price-volume modelling

  • Field Force Effectiveness e.g., assessment of FF reach, frequency, productivity, and augmentation metrics to understand optimal FF vs. digital mix

  • Insight generation for other commercial go to market assessments

  • Collaborate with the ASEAN Commercial Operations team to implement KPIs to inform business insights on which channels should be prioritized/invested in and monitor the progress of the ASEAN team's progress towards go to market leadership

  • Data harmonization to facilitate tracking of established KPIs

  • Collaboration with in-market colleagues and analytical support and guidance to track established KPIs across markets and functions

  • Collaboration with BAI & BT to automate tracking of KPIs once established

  • Engage with country teams and key partner functions including Finance and BAI to acquire and consolidate relevant data sources required for strategic analyses and KPI implementation and tracking

  • Understand what data sets are available locally and regionally

  • Assess strengths & limitations of local and regional data sets to make recommendations on best sources of information and on feasible analytics

  • Collaboration with BAI on automation of key analytics across data sources e.g., via a cluster dashboard

  • Retrospective analyses to provide insights on ROI and impact of strategic initiatives for the ASEAN Commercial Operations Team

  • Calculate and track ROI and impact of strategic initiatives for the Commercial Operations Team

  • Recommend opportunities for improved ROI and impact of initiatives based on strategic analyses and assessments

  • Connect with the EM Commercial Team and Global Channel / Functional Teams to align ASEAN Commercial Operations Team KPIs and strategic analytics with similar regional & global efforts

  • Provide ASEAN-specific feedback for EM and Global analytics and insight generation efforts

Qualifications (Training, Education & Prior Experience):

Education

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree required; MBA or similar Masters preferred

Experience and Targeted Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in healthcare, marketing agency and/or technology related field preferred

  • Expertise in Project Management, Marketing and/or Digital Asset Management preferred

  • Strong customer focus; demonstrates how will always think of the customer first in identifying needs and channel opportunities

  • Clear understanding of where digital fits within the broader marketing mix

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience of working with metrics and KPIs to evaluate, communicate, and optimize performance activities

  • Comfortable working with latest innovations and assessing new opportunities for adoption

  • Strong strategic thinking skills

  • Innovative and results oriented; proven ability to deliver tangible output even in ambiguous environments; comfortable with calculated risk taking

  • Comfort with tools such as MS Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Effective working in multi-cultural environment

  • Manage complexity in an environment with multiple stakeholders

  • Provide clear team direction and engage team members to deliver high levels of performance

  • Fluent in English verbal and written skills

  • Capability to establish effective networks across markets and with global teams
