Job Description

UNDER DESIGNATED SUPERVISION, INSTALLS, MODIFIES, REPAIRS, TROUBLESHOOTS, LOADS AND TESTS NEW AND EXISTING ELECTRICAL LINES, SYSTEMS, FIXTURES, CONTROLS AND EQUIPMENT SUPPLYING UP TO 550 VOLTS.

  1. WORKS FROM BUILDING PLANS, BLUEPRINTS, WIRING DIAGRAMS, ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR MANUALS TO PLAN AND LAYOUT THE ROUTING, PLACEMENT, TYPE, SIZE, GAUGE, BALANCE, LOAD, CONTINUITY AND PROPER AND SAFE OPERATION OF ELECTRICAL LINES, CIRCUITS, SYSTEMS EQUIPMENT, AND CONTROLS. INSTALLS, MODIFIES, REPAIRS, LOADS AND TESTS SECONDARY ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION LINES AND CIRCUITS USED TO SUPPLY A WIDE-RANGE OF VOLTAGE, AMPERAGE, PHASE AND FREQUENCY REQUIREMENTS. DETERMINES, ARRANGES, PLACES AND ROUTES CONDUITS, DISTRIBUTION PANELS, BOXES, CIRCUITS, FITTINGS, CONNECTIONS AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS.

  2. MAINTAINS AND REPAIRS VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING AVARIETY OF APPLIANCES, LIGHTS, ELECTRICAL DRIVES, ALARM AND SECURITY CIRCUITS, CLOCKS, ETC. MAY BE REQUIRED TO REPAIR OR ASSIST WITH VARIOUS TYPES OF OFFICE EQUIPMENT.

  3. LOCATES AND DIAGNOSES TROUBLE IN FIRE ALARMS, LIGHTING, BUZZERS, CLOCKS, THERMOSTATS, ETC., WHICH MAY INVOLVE THE USE OF A VARIETY OF ELECTRICAL TEST EQUIPMENT.

  4. WORKING FROM ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS AND SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS, PREPARES LABOR AND MATERIAL COST ESTIMATES, AND DEVELOPS LIST OF MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR THE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS.

  5. MAY BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM AIR CONDITIONING, CARPENTRY, PAINTING, AND/OR PLUMBING FUNCTIONS REQUIRING A LEVEL OF SKILL AND RESPONSIBLITY CHARACTERISTIC OF WORK AT GRADE M-9 AND BELOW.

  6. MAY INSTALL, MAINTAIN, AND REPAIR ELECTRONIC AND ELECTRO-MECHANICAL CASH REGISTERS, PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT, 480-208V CIRCUITS IN SUPPORT OF COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, TRANSFORMERS AND DISTRIBUTION PANELS, VIDEO AND AUDIO TRANSMISSION CABLES AND SOUND SYSTEM EQUIPMENT. PERFORMS PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, ROUTINE REPAIRS AND SIMPLE EMERGENCY REPAIRS AS REQUIRED.

  7. MAY MAINTAIN/REPAIR CONVEYOR SYSTEMS TO INCLUDE MAIN SWITCHES, RELAYS, STOP AND START STATIONS AND MOTOR DRIVE.

  8. CONDUCTS PERIODIC INSPECTIONS AND MAINTAINS THE UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLY (UPS) SUPPORTING COMPUTER EQUIPMENT.

  9. AS REQUIRED, PERFORMS TDY TRAVEL OF ONE OR MORE DAYS DURATION TO OTHER EXCHANGE LOCATIONS.

  10. MAY OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MATERIAL AND ASSOCIATES, WHEN REQUIRED.

  11. INSURES COMPLIANCE WITH FIRE, SAFETY, SANITATION, AND SECURITY REGULATIONS. INITIATES WORK ORDERS FOR REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE.

  12. PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Job Qualifications

EDUCATION: HIGH SCHOOL OR EQUIVALENT.

EXPERIENCE: ONE YEAR GENERAL EXPERIENCE, PLUS FOUR YEARS SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IN ELECTRICAL WORK. MUST POSSESS THE ABILITY TO USE ALL POWER AND HAND TOOLS AND TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK. MUST POSSESS A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AS REQUIRED BY LOCAL/STATE LAWS OR REGULATIONS.

OTHER: ANY PERSON INVOLVED WITH SERVICING STATIONARY REFRIGERANT SYSTEMS MUST BE CERTIFIED BY AN EPA APPROVED TESTING PROGRAM AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION AS A TYPE I AND II TECHNICIAN AS REQUIRED BY EPA'S FINAL RULE 608 (40 CFR, PART 82, SUBPART I). ADDITIONALLY, THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK WITH LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS (CHILLERS) WILL ALSO MAINTAIN THE TYPE III CERTIFICATION. CERTIFICATION AS A "UNIVERSAL TECHNICIAN" (CERTIFIED AS TYPE I, II AND III) IS PREFERRED BUT NOT MANDATORY UNLESS WORK INVOLVES LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS. (APPLICATION AT OVERSEAS LOCATIONS WILL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH REQUIREMENTS OF HOST COUNTRY/INSTALLATION ENGINEERS.)
