Cosma International Program Quality Specialist in Newmarket, Ontario

POSITION OVERVIEW Responsible for all aspects of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and effective change management for assigned program(s) and continuous improvements of all products/processes developed and produced at Dortec.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer Support

  • Lead/Participate/Approve Customer Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) timing (Phased PPAP)

  • Ensures all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements are known/tracked/adhered to using planned milestones

  • Review Government Approvals required and develop Inspection Standard

  • Leads Plant trials for Engineering changes, Tool Moves and New Program Launches

  • Lead Launch and Warranty issue resolution in problem solving for applicable customer quality concerns. (customer specific reports: 8D, 7 Step, 5 Phase, Is/Is Not, 6 Panel, etc.)

  • Participate in Warranty reviews and analysis at customer center

  • Manages applicable new model launch field support to ensure effective containment and timely closure of issues


  • Advanced Internal Activities

  • Ability to read an electrical schematic

  • Ability to analyze, validate and root cause electronic control modules

  • Understanding knowledge of IPC-A-610 principals

  • Engineering and technical expertise in electronic and software technologies (more than 3 years of field experience)

  • Coordinate and participate in Internal/Supplier Drawing Reviews

  • Prepare and complete Control Plans

  • Prepare and complete component Receiving Inspection Matrix and Instructions

  • Assist in Preparation and approval of Assembly Work Instructions

  • Develop Product Validation (PV) Plan (schedule) including reliability and confidence (R&C;) requirements in accordance with Program timing

  • Develop, implement and supervise Launch Containment System

  • Participate in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) review and team sign off

  • Participate in BILL of Material (BOM) review and sign off

  • Leads Engineering Deviation Request (EDR) process- status/follow-up/resolution

  • Facilitate supplier deviation requests (i.e. Supplier Request for Change Deviation SRCD’s, EDR’s) through closure with the supply base

  • Initiate and participate in Campaign Prevention reviews

  • Coordinate and participate in Early Supplier Involvement with Design and Purchasing

  • Adhere to all Product Delivery Process (PDP/Program Planning requirements and expectations

  • Develop Customer attachment/contact point list

  • Coordinate and ensure signoff / concurrence of control plan / attachment point checklist in conjunction with Mistake Proof Evaluation Procedure

  • Review Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD & T), requirements (Finished Goods / Components)

  • Prepare and present Launch QE Summary Report

  • Develop Mapping including Critical Characteristics Tables

  • Participate in Document Linkage Review

  • Review lessons learned database

  • Establish Supplier PPAP timing and review/approve on time prior to Product Validation requirements

  • Co-ordinate checking fixtures supply (design, manufacturing, Gage R&R;, instructions, training)

  • Supports pre-production builds


Conduct Test Fixture Verification - Vehicle alignment, review and signoff to verify sequence, setup, etc.

  • Ensure proper level test parts are built and delivered to test lab

  • Periodic review of in-process testing

  • Post test set-up and results signoff

  • Timely Test Incident Report (TIR) response and resolution, out of Evaluation phase within 48 hours.

  • Leads TIR investigation for quality related issues, prepares 8D report and ensure timely closure of issues (DV)

  • Leads TIR investigation, prepares 8D report and ensure timely closure of issues (PV)

  • Develop annual validation (PV) plan for designated programs

  • Develop and maintain Program Control Plans


  • Other

  • “A” level provides guidance for PQE’s “B” and “C”

  • Train members of Advanced Operations team in specific quality disciplines as required

  • Participates in quality systems audits with customer and external auditors as required

  • PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Adherence to all Dortec policies and guidelines

  • Ensure timely communication to all departments involved

  • Execute all programs/projects within the established budget

  • NOC completion on time

  • PPAP on time to program commitment date (s)

  • PV/RV Testing to plan

  • TIR response < 48 hours

  • Zero supplier responsible launch concerns (New Model Launch)

  • Meet all critical deliverables as outlines in the APQP and PEP process to support program/project timing QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Completion of community college diploma/certificate.

  • 5 to less than 7 years of work related experience.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Completion of a post secondary education program in electrical or Mechatronics engineering

  • ASQC certification as a quality engineer (CQE) preferred

  • Tier I automotive experience preferred
