Role Summary:

The job position refers to the Advanced Systems Design and Technologies group.

In this role you will contribute to define the propulsion systems of the future of aviation.

Working as part of an integrated global team, you will perform concept studies and preliminary design of next gen propulsion systems, including new large engine architectures, next gen turboprop and turboshaft power plants and hybrid systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Conduct technical feasibility studies and engine architectural trades for future aviation products across several markets: from general aviation to wide body aircraft propulsion systems

  • Define the thermal cycle operation, engine architecture and components configuration, assuring the achievement of performance, weight, emissions and cost targets

  • Flow down aircraft system requirements to propulsion system definition

  • Execute preliminary design activities of engine configurations analyzing their performance and proposing viable system solutions

  • Interface with aircraft manufacturers and internal customers, at all levels, to ensure the correct product definition according to specifications

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated across the preliminary design phase ensuring compliance with engineering policies and procedures

  • Support technical and program reviews

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university

  • Experience on engine performance and thermodynamic cycle analysis

  • Knowledge of engine architectural trades

  • Knowledge of aircraft-engine integration aspects and certification basis

  • Clear thinking, diligent approach and growth mindset

  • Good English language knowledge, written and oral

  • Fluent Italian Language knowledge

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:

  • Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience

  • Previous future programs and preliminary design experience

  • Robust design engineering and multi-design objective analysis

  • Knowledge of compression systems technology, performance and design, including operability aspects

  • Knowledge of aircraft mission analysis

  • Knowledge of electrical systems (motors and generators) integration and controls

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Curiosity and passion for aviation and propulsion technologies

  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
