The role of the job is to contribute to mutual fund solutions to Consumer Bank business that encompasses 17 countries/businesses (APAC and EMEA). Consumer Bank APAC/EMEA mutual fund assets under management comprise more than 50% of total investment revenues. The selection of appropriate and timely mutual fund solutions is key to supporting the strategic investment revenue objectives of 17 Consumer Bank businesses in APAC and EMEA.
The role involves all aspects of strategizing mutual fund solutions (inluding but not limited to fund and product analysis so as to provide timely yet appropriate fund and/or product solutions to assigned businesses across Asia and EMEA).
The candidate will also assist in the selection of ETFs for assigned businesses.
The role will include engaging assigned businesses with regard to quarterly focus funds, ensuring alignment of such funds with Regional Wealth strategies. This will necessitate the leveraging off a full spectrum of analytics comprising quantitative and qualitative factors in screening, analysing and selection for assigned businesses.
The candidate is also expected to be able to be cognizant of market cycles/trends so as to position mutual funds appropriately and maintain competitiveness.
The role will also include product management functions such as negotiating with global and local asset management companies and internal constituents (global/regional internal stakeholders (Compliance/Legal/IPR)) on distribution agreements for assigned businesses.
The candidate is expected to provide support for ongoing monitoring of approved asset management companies, mutual fund actions and notifications in supporting, guiding and providing oversight to assigned businesses on all matters involving mutual funds.
The role will also incorporate timely escalation/approval to GDDC/IPR/DPAC so as to ensure alignment of mutual fund launches for assigned businesses which is strategic to businesses target sales and revenues.
Provider and Product Selection
Analyze (quantitative and qualitative), select and monitor mutual funds and Investment management companies to ensure compliance with selection and escalation requirements of the Global Due Diligence Policy Handbook.
Interview and interact with portfolio managers to formulate and articulate assessment of mutual funds.
Lead and/or Co- Manage FMP initiatives across 17 businesses in APAC/EMEA.
Conduct ongoing review/monitoring of existing funds/IMCs and provide timely updates/impact analysis to management and covered businesses on changes to IMCs and their funds.
Collaborate on selecting SMAs and work with members of Regional Wealth Management team to recommend mutual fund strategies that align with Citi house views.
Engaging assigned businesses on positioning of appropriate mutual fund strategies that are in alignment with Citi's investment strategy.
Provide regional support, guidance and functional oversight to country businesses regarding due diligence practices/policies, ensure compliance with all applicable external regulatory requirements and Citi internal policies and standards, and ensure timely escalation/approval to GDDC/IPR/DPAC so as to ensure alignment in mutual fund launches by APAC and EMEA businesses.
Contributes to the IMC/AMF distribution approval process involving global/regional internal stakeholders (Compliance/Legal/IPR).
Provide 17 businesses with a streamlined process for onboarding of select mutual fund strategies (including but not limited to) regional or local Distribution Agreements.
The candidate should have the experience to fully understand the integrated nature of capital markets, the correlation of different asset classes and sub-classes. In addition, the role would also require the successful candidate to fully grasp the impact of market cycles (both economic and capital market) on asset classes and investment strategies. Notwithstanding the hard skill-sets in equities, fixed income, liquid alternatives and ETFs, experience in analyzing different investment strategies is also desirable. From a soft-skill set perspective, the product management responsibilities would require a candidate to be able to get the buy-ins from senior management regarding selection of appropriate fund strategies and ultimately, the respective mutual fund product teams of the assigned businesses straddled across APAC/EMEA. Where no such solutions exist, the candidate is expected to demonstrate initiative in engaging global asset management companies in arriving at a timely solution for the 17 Citi Consumer Bank businesses. The soft-skills required is also vital in the sensitive engagement of global asset management companies with regard to onboarding or rejections of products and in Distribution Agreements negotiations (involving multi management levels both internally and externally).
Ability to work with Citibank multiple constituents, including country Wealth Management teams and Regional Legal, Risk, Compliance, Operations, etc, businesses.
