Parts Sales Support
To generate sales orders and offers for Cat Propulsion (CP) Spare Parts and upgrades. Responsible for order processing from direct customers or the regional sales offices, or dealers.

This is an entry-level position within Cat Propulsions product sales support group.
The incumbent is responsible to apply all order management policies and practices during the processing of handling orders of spare parts and upgrades.
Handle orders with a basic to moderate range of complexity and ensure standard process and documentation requirements are met. The product range supported is within the After Sales and Service area and include a range of parts that varies within propellers, control systems and hydraulic systems. The product ranges cover main propellers, thrusters and azimuth thrusters.
Partner with the various internal groups (purchasing, production, and warehouse) to ensure orders can be efficiently processed and meet customer requirements.
Create offers and orders which are received via telephone or email from customers or the regional office. Must check all inquiries, orders and offers in accordance with internal documentation and guidelines and price parts according to the pricing list. A good basic knowledge of Cat Propulsion products is required since the incumbent may be required to provide alternative solutions the customer may not have been aware of.
Responsible for checking inventory to ensure any aftermarket parts are in stock and if not are expected to contact suppliers and the purchasing team to ensure the product is made available to the customer. If the part is not a stock item then the item needs to be submitted to the Production team to ensure they are able to produce the parts.
Must continuously monitor the workflow/lifecycle from quotation, to order receipt, to order delivery to ensure the customer receives the product in a timely and efficient manner.
Advise the customer on technical questions in order to sell the appropriate products. Guide the customer, using technical knowledge, to change order content if it is more beneficial to replace more than one part to gain a better long-term benefit solution.
For more complex requirements may consult with the technical support department, research & development (R & D), or production.
Accountable for sales orders and inquiries within region.
These orders will be processed in a timely, accurate manner to
- the manufacturing plant for production
- the warehouse if the ordered item is a stock item
- the supplier /purchasing department if the items needs to be purchased.
Responsible to resolve any grief with the order prior to releasing and to release any requested changes to orders.
Provide timely response to dealer/direct customer/regional offices inquiries regarding the status of any order being managed.
Must have a good basic knowledge and ability to recommend spare parts from product range of Propulsion System (MPP, MTT, MTA, ZF) and related Equipment.
Must be able to provide basic troubleshooting and have basic knowledge of business systems.
Incumbents at this level will be expected to carry out basic sales work and problem solving within defined procedures and instructions. Some tasks may be moderately complex from time to time however they would follow defined procedures and instructions to achieve the goal. Only the more complex of tasks will be supervised and they will be expected to complete basic tasks with no supervision.
Position requires liaising with our transportation team and service providers for shipping arrangements
The incumbent at this level must have a basic understanding of our products, read and understand our drawings and have basic knowledge of our business systems.
They are expected to interact with customers, dealers and production.
- 1-3 years of job role related experience.
- Position requires knowledge of the Caterpillar Propulsion product line.
- Personal computer skills in the area of electronic mail, Microsoft Office are required as well as.
- Demonstrate strength in the areas of customer service, communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a team oriented environment.
- Results orientated and by highly customer focused (i.e. good cooperation skills, good communication skills, logical and creative).
- Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken.
