Dexterra Dock Attendant in Victoria, British Columbia

Job Title: Loading Dock Attendant

Hours: Full-Time (37.5hrs)

Department: Janitorial / Custodial / Housekeeping

Report To: Account Director

Position Summary: The Loading Dock Attendant will be the point of contact for Winners and their delivery drivers wishing to load and unload freight. Through efficient management and communication, dock scheduling will minimize disruptions and inconveniences. Primarily responsible for coordinating inbound freight and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the dock area

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all dock work is performed according to The Bay Centre and Dexterra approved procedures, standards, and specifications for operations.

  • Effectively manage inbound processing of freight

  • Ensure efficient and timely loading/unload of freight in/off trucks

  • Communicate with management and operations to meet all of the department's goals

  • Enforce all company policies, rules and regulations.

  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment at all times. Report any issues to Account Director.

  • Monitor loading dock area to ensure only authorized delivery vehicles access the loading dock and no other traffic is obstructing access to the loading dock


  • Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Strong team player

  • Basic computer proficiency and math skills

  • Previous warehouse or loading dock experience an asset
